The HRB-TMRN invites Supervisors from eligible institutions (NUI Galway, TCD, UCC, UCD and UL ) to submit an abstract for a proposed research study suitable for an undergraduate student to complete in the Summer of 2018. The proposed projects MUST consist of methodology research related to the conduct or reporting of randomised trials or methodology related to systematic reviews of randomised trials.
Approved abstracts are published on this webpage and are eligible for funding, subject to securing an interested student, which is the responsibility of the individual Supervisors.
Undergraduate students with an interest in health can select a project and apply directly to the local Supervisors to support their participation in research during the summer months in 2018.
The purpose of the student scholarships is to encourage an interest in methodology research and to give the student an opportunity to become familiar with research techniques.
Abstracts will be funded based on peer-review.
The HRB-TMRN summer scholarships are allocated to specific projects as submitted by Supervisors by March 9th 2018.
Undergraduate students who are studying in a partner university (NUI Galway, TCD, UCC, UCD and UL) in Ireland who have not previously received a Summer Student Scholarship from the HRB are eligible to apply. In line with the HRB-TMRN strategy the project must relate to methodology research related to the conduct or reporting of randomised trials (or systematic review).
Supervisors MUST be registered members of the HRB-TMRN Clinical Trial Expertise Database (C-TED) to be eligible.
The amount paid will be a total of €2,000 for a maximum of eight weeks and is paid to the student by the eligible host institution on a monthly basis.
In 2018, FIVE awards will be offered in each of the following host institutions;
The deadline for abstract submissions by supervisors is 1pm Friday 09th March 2018. Supervisors will be notified of the outcome by the 23rd March 2018 at the latest, after which successful supervisors can liaise with interested students, or advertise internally.
Project supervisors in eligible institutions should submit a project abstract (by email to email@example.com), relevant to trial methodology or systematic review methodology to the HRB-TMRN by March 9th 2018 for peer-review and selection. Approved abstracts seeking a student will be listed on this page after March 9th 2018.
Interested students should review the proposed abstracts from their relevant institution on this page and contact the nominated Supervisors as listed on each abstract. Students are requested to complete an application form, with help from a Supervisor. Completed application forms must be submitted to the HRB-TMRN before the student can commence work.
