TMRP Webinar – Presented by William Cragg (University of Leeds) on behalf of the UK Trial Managers’ Network

Eligibility criteria are a fundamental element of clinical trial design. They define which groups might benefit from the trial results, and which individuals should not take part, for example if participation might expose them to intolerably high risk of harm. Problems with how eligibility criteria are chosen, written or applied – whether foreseeable or not – are known to occur and can have negative consequences for trials’ results, for participants and for those who manage and oversee trials.

This webinar will cover the results of a programme of work conducted at the Clinical Trials Research Unit, University of Leeds, on ensuring trial eligibility criteria are as good as they can be. We have reviewed the relevant literature, analysed a few instances of eligibility criteria not being applied or interpreted as intended, and carried out a survey of UK recruiters’ experiences of using criteria in any trials they work on. Aside from the survey results, our outputs include recommended minimum elements for all eligibility criteria, and a quality control tool for reviewing criteria during protocol development.

Please note, you need to register for this event in order to receive an email invitation to join the session. Registrations are limited to 250 attendees and places will be offered on a first come first served basis.
